PADUCAH — The Massac County Lady Patriots continued their late season surge, rallying to win at Paducah Tilghman 62-56 for their seventh straight win.

Tilghman got off to a strong start. Senior Eleese Anderson and freshman Dasia Garland combined for eight first quarter points as the Blue Tornado led 14-11 after one quarter. They added to that lead in the second quarter as another freshman, Abigail Wurth, scored five points in the quarter helping the Blue Tornado lead 29-22 at halftime.

The Lady Patriots countered with their own freshman, Sophie Bormann. Bormann scored eight of her game high 16 in third quarter, and Kendra Waldron added clutch baskets as Massac County outscored Tilghman 24-16 to grab a 46-45 lead heading to the fourth. The Lady Patriots’ pressing defense gave Tilghman problems in the fourth, holding the Blue Tornado to only 11 points. Massac County outscored Tilghman 16-11 in the final quarter to secure the six-point win.

The Lady Patriots improve to 17-10 on the season. They will wrap up River to River-Ohio play at home Thursday night against West Frankfort before closing out the regular season Saturday at home against state ranked Carterville.
