MARION — The area’s top tennis player made her college choice official Friday. Marion’s Nicole Szidik signed with Eastern Illinois.
Szidik was 26-2 her senior year, with both losses coming at the state tournament. She was the South Seven as well as Sectional champion, and finished second team All-State.
Szidik said the hardest part about the decision was not which school, but which sport. She is also a standout soccer player and only started playing tennis in high school.
