Gamber headed back to Rend Lake College

WOODLAWN — After four highly successful seasons as the Woodlawn Cardinals head basketball coach, Brian Gamber is headed back to college. Gamber was named the new men’s basketball coach at Rend Lake College Friday, replacing Tommy Holder who resigned last month.

Gamber was an all-conference player for the Warriors from 2007-09. He has spent the last six years at Woodlawn. After two years as an assistant coach, Gamber has spent the past four seasons as the head coach, compiling a record of 96-34 with three regional championships and one sectional championship.

He sat down with Darren Kinnard to talk about the opportunity to coach at the collegiate level and how hard it is to leave Woodlawn.
