MARION — Runners from Carmi-White County, Carbondale, Centralia, Mt. Vernon, Salem, Vienna and Webber joined Marion for the Wildcat Fast Start cross country meet Thursday.
Carbondale put three in the top eight to win the girls team title. Madeline Prideaux led the Terriers, and everyone else, posting a time of 20:27, just shy of a minute faster than her closest competitor. Mt. Vernon teammates Britney Brown and Kenya Buckley finished second and third. Webber freshman Alexis Johnson took fourth in her second high school meet. Carbondale’s Sadie Torre rounded out the top five.
Carbondale made it an individual sweep as Alex Partlow won the boys’ side with a time of 15:57. Carmi-White County’s Ty Barbre was second, eight seconds back. Marion put six runners in the top 11 to run away with the team title.
