CARBONDALE — It was a tale of two lengthy streaks at the Southern Illinois River to River Conference boys golf championships Tuesday. One came to an end, while another rolled on.

For the first time since 2008, someone other than Nashville won the Mississippi title. Anna-Jonesboro ended the Hornets’ 11-year reign as division champs. Led by junior Luke Lasley’s three-under 69, the Wildcats won the team title by eight strokes over Nashville.

Lasley was the only golfer to break par in either division. No other Mississippi individual broke 80, leaving Lasley with a 12-shot win.

The Benton Rangers meanwhile won their sixth straight Ohio title. Cy Norman took home medalist honors with an even par round of 72. All six Rangers finished in the top 10.
