Lady Patriots excel on the course and in the classroom

METROPOLIS — The Massac County Lady Patriots are showing they not only take care of business on the golf course, but in the classroom as well.

After winning a regional championship and finishing third in the sectional in the fall, the Lady Patriots have earned the IHSA’s Academic Achievement Award–an award based on team grade point average.

The entire 14-player Massac County team posted a GPA of 3.98 for the first two quarters this school year.

The IHSA recognizes teams with a 3.0 GPA and above for this award. Here are fall teams from the region that received this award.

Boys Cross Country: Althoff, Breese Mater Dei, Du Quoin, and Freeburg

Boys Golf: Althoff, Breese Mater Dei, Mt. Carmel, Nashville, and Okawville

Girls Cross Country: Althoff, Breese Mater Dei, Du Quoin, Freeburg, Nashville, and Okawville

Girls Golf: Althoff, Marion, Massac Co., Mt. Carmel, and Okawville

Girls Tennis: Althoff, Marion, and Mt. Carmel
