JOHNSTON CITY — The Johnston City Lady Indians jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back, beating Carmi-White County 9-1 to capture the Sectional 8/Regional B championship Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Indians needed just two batters to grab the lead for good, as Emma Moake doubled in Madison Weber. Moake later scored on a sacrifice fly.

The Lady Bulldogs got one of the runs back in the second, but they never could tie or take the lead.

Johnston City added two more runs in the fourth then blew it open with four runs in the fifth, before Mia Basenberg led off the sixth with a homerun providing the final margin for victory.

Next up for the Lady Indians will be a trip to Campbell Hill Tuesday to face Trico in the sectional semifinals. That game is scheduled for 4:30.
