CARBONDALE — Carbondale hosted the South 7 Cross Country championships at SIU a day earlier than expected due to potential weather issues Thursday.

Led by Anna Schurz’ medalist winning effort, the host Terriers won the girls side with Althoff edging Centralia for second. Marion was fourth.

The Terriers swept the medalist honors when senior Alex Partlow dominated the boys race, winning by nearly two minutes with a time of 14:43. Marion placed six in the top ten to win the team title. Mt. Vernon was second followed by Carbondale and Althoff.

Up next will be the postseason, with regionals set for next Saturday.
