Salem, Anna-Jonesboro finish Top 10 in State

ROCKFORD — Both the Salem and Anna-Jonesboro Lady Wildcats finished in the Top 10 at the Girls State Bowling Tournament in Rockford. Salem entered Saturday’s final round in 11th place and moved up four spots to finish seventh. Anna-Jonesboro started the final day seventh and wound up tenth.

Lockport Township won the team title with 11,743 pins, 207 pins ahead of Machesney Park (Harlem).

Vandalia senior Madison Ferguson cruised to the individual title with 2842 pins, that’s an average of 237 per game and was 215 pins ahead of her next closest competitor. Freeburg junior Lauren Hunter finished 17th with 2421 pins, just eight pins ahead of Anna-Jonesboro senior Madi Hawk, who finished 18th. Senior Sarah Sauter was Salem’s top finisher at 28th with 2364 pins. Mt. Vernon junior Makayla Storment wound up 41st with 2284 pins.
