Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week nominees

Voting is now open and will run through midnight Thursday for this week’s Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week. The poll is on the upper right-hand side of the page.

Here are your nominees:

Lacie Carr, Carterville: The sophomore was 4-0, allowing only 2 earned runs in 23 innings while striking out 27. She was also 6-11 at the plate with 2 doubles and 5 RBIs helping the Lions pick 4 wins.

Shelby Cook, Murphysboro: The senior was 10-12 with 3 doubles, a grand slam, 9 RBIs, 7 runs scored, and 2 stolen bases helping the Red Devils pick up 3 conference wins.

Alecia Doyle, Carterville: The senior won the 100 (12.76) and the 200 (26.88) at the Carterville Lion Invitational.

Tony Keene, Harrisburg: The sophomore won the 110 hurdles (17.71) and the 300 hurdles (44.18) at the Carterville Lion Invitational.

Sarah McKowen, CORL: The junior won the 1600 (5:55.57) and the 3200 (12:48.00) at the Annies Invitational.

Madi Rathert, Trico: The junior was 7-12 with 4 home runs and 7 RBIs as well as 1-0 with 9 strikeouts in the circle.

Karsten Stotlar, Marion: The senior was 1-0, tossing a 1-hit shutout with 8 strikeouts in 5 innings and needing only 60 pitches to do it. Stotlar also reached base 5 times in 2 games, scoring twice.

Madyson Swope, Carbondale: The junior won the discus (124-04) and the shot put (39-05) at the Carterville Lion Invitational.

Lamark Threadgill, Carbondale: The senior won the 100 (10.93) and the 200 (21.82) at the Carterville Lion Invitational. The 21.82 is a new CCHS school record in the 200.

Lucas Whittington, West Frankfort: The junior was 1-0, allowing 3 runs in 7 innings while striking out 14. Whittington was 3-4 at the plate with a home run, 2 RBIs, and 3 runs scored.
