FAIRFIELD — Many of the area’s top graduated senior volleyball players gathered in Fairfield for the second annual Section618.com East vs West All-Star game.

The East side was made up of Addie Dungy from Benton, Erin Wicker from NCOE, Kelis Adams and Hailey Edwards from Massac County, Kinley Milligan and Maci Knight from Grayville, Dani Rubenacker from Hamilton County, Jessica Smith from Carmi-White County, Lauren Harris from Woodlawn, and Kenna Davis from Fairfield. The team was coached by Hamilton County’s Jason Hall, Carmi-White County’s Chris Lucas, Fairfield’s Chet Snyder, and NCOE’s Jaclyn Melton.

The West side an all River to River Mississippi grouping of Emily Schnitker, Talanie Kozuszek, and Hazel Konkel from Nashville, Bella Mavigliano and Amanda Howerton from Carterville, as well as Sophie Miller, Olivia Dill, Grace Alongi, and Jalynn Wood from Du Quoin. The team was coached by Du Quoin’s Isaac Miller, Nashville’s Josh Konkel, and Carterville’s Nathan Emrick.

Even though many play together on the club circuit, the players say this opportunity to join forces with some new teammates, including some old rivals, was a great experience and a great way to officially wrap up their high school careers.

As for the match, they played a best of 5 format. The West took the first 25-16, with the East bouncing back to take the next three 25-21, 25-19, 25-20 to win.
