MARION — The Marion Wildcats picked up their second win of the season by shutting out Murphysboro 2-0 in a non-conference boys soccer matchup Monday night.

After a scoreless first half, Marion got goals from Killian Raijmakers and Trenton Hutchinson for the win. Raijmakers put the Wildcats on top with his goal in the 58th minute.

Marion would’ve made it 2-0 just a couple of moments later on a header off of a corner kick, but an unbelievable effort from Red Devils’ senior defenseman Efrain Lemus to clear the ball kept it 1-0.

Hutchinson then scored in the 68th minute to give the Wildcats some insurance.

Up next, Marion (2-4) will travel to A-J/Cobden Tuesday at 4:30. Murphysboro (9-2) will host Harrisburg Tuesday at 6:00.
