Herrin rolls to the Mt. Vernon Regional title

MT. VERNON — The Herrin Tigers put three in the top five and cruised to the Mt. Vernon Boys Bowling Regional championship by 430 pins.

Herrin sophomore Chase Lannom scored between 214-245 for all six of his games on the way to a total of 1380 pins to win the individual title by 79. Mt. Vernon’s Hunter Schoenrock was second followed by Eldorado’s Jonathan Williams and Herrin teammates Lake Ward and Nick Hubbard.

Harrisburg finished second as a team. The Bulldogs, along with Herrin, Carterville, and Mt. Vernon will all advance to the Collinsville Sectional.

The top 10 individuals not on the four advancing teams also qualify for the sectional. That list includes Williams, Chandler Buckingham (Marion), Gavin Moore (Anna-Jonesboro), Heath Ellis (Woodlawn), Raymond Andrews (Webber), Daden Moore (Anna-Jonesboro), Cal Ginger (Massac Co.), Carter Snowden (Carbondale), Gabe Rottman (Massac Co.), and Camden Bruner (Marion).

The Collinsville Sectional will be Saturday.

Salem also hosted a regional. The host Wildcats won the team title, beating Mascoutah by 197 pins. Salem senior Charlie Hunter won the individual championship with 1448. Complete results from the Salem Regional are here.
