CHRISTOPHER — It will be Black Diamond East vs Black Diamond West for the Christopher 1A Sectional championship as Edwards County and the host Lady Bearcats both took care of business in the sectional semifinals.

Edwards County jumped out to 17-3 and was never really challenged by Pope County in the first semifinal, winning 65-34. The Lions’ Grace Bishop led all scorers with 21 points. Rylee Hogg led the Lady Pirates with 11.

Christopher got out to a 12-0 lead in the second semifinal against Goreville, but the Blackcats closed to within two late in the quarter before Tori Crain hit a half-court, buzzer-beating 3-pointer giving the Lady Bearcats a 17-12 lead after one. They extended that lead to 34-27 at the half, then pushed it double figures in the second half, winning 56-45.

So it will be 30-3 Edwards County against 28-3 Christopher Thursday night at 7:00. The winner will advance to the Effingham St. Anthony Supersectional Monday night.
