NASHVILLE — The battle for first place in the SIRR Mississippi was all Nashville as the Hornets clubbed three 2-run home runs, and Harrison Zgonina tossed a complete game shutout in an 8-0 win over Anna-Jonesboro.

Senior Owen Dunn mashed a pair of the Hornets’ home runs. Dunn’s first blast came in the bottom of the second giving Nashville a 2-0 lead. Dunn’s second homer kickstarted a four-run fourth inning. Two batters later, Trey Reinburg also went deep.

Reinburg added an RBI double in the fifth as the Hornets tacked on two more runs for an 8-0 cushion.

The insurance tallies weren’t necessary as Zgonina scattered five hits while striking seven on the way to the shutout, escaping a couple of jams along the way.

With the win, Nashville completed a regular season sweep of the Wildcats to take control of the conference race. The Hornets lead the Wildcats by two games with three to play.
