Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week nominees

Voting is now open and will run through midnight Saturday for this week’s Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week.

Here are the nominees for the week of April 24-29:

Noah Arnold, Harrisburg: The junior threw a complete game, 3-hit shutout, striking out 6 against Murphysboro to clinch the SIRR–Ohio title. Arnold was 3-6 at the plate with 3 walks, an RBI, and 4 runs scored.

Lilly Blagoue, Salem: The sophomore was 3-0 allowing 1 earned run on 11 hits while striking out 27 over 18.1 innings. Blagoue was 4-6 at the plate with 3 home runs, 4 RBIs, and 4 runs scored.

Abby Compton, Goreville: The junior was 6-13 with a double, 3 home runs, 6 RBIs, and 5 runs scored in 4 games for the Blackcats. Compton hit 2 homers and drove in 4 in a win over Galatia/Thompsonville.

Destiny Hooker, Fairfield: The senior won the 100 and 300 hurdles at both the Du Quoin Lady Indian Classic and the Lady Mule Invitational. Hooker broke a 32-year old school record in the 300 hurdles when she ran :48.3 at Du Quoin.

Jacob Kinsman, Benton: The senior was 6-12 with 2 doubles, 3 home runs, 9 RBIs, and 5 runs scored helping the Rangers go 4-0 for the week. Kinsman also threw a complete game, 4-hit shutout against Waltonville/Sesser-Valier, striking out 4.

Megan McNitt, Murphysboro: The junior scored 7 goals and added an assist to help the Red Devils to a 3-0 record for the week. McNitt scored 4 goals in the win over Harrisburg and a hat trick in the win over Massac County.

Cam Newcomb, Centralia: The senior was 12-18 with a double, 4 stolen bases, 4 RBIs, and 7 runs scored in 5 games. Newcomb was 4-4 with 2 RBIs against Wesclin.

Hayley Pasquino, ZRC: The junior was 2-1 for the week allowing 1 unearned run on 6 hits over 17.2 innings. Pasquino struck out 38 of the 65 batters she faced.
