Josh Finley Country Financial Ram of the Week: Rams Shine at O’Fallon Relays

The Mt. Vernon Rams Track & Field team earns this week’s Josh Finley Country Financial Ram of the Week honors following an impressive performance at the O’Fallon Relays on Friday, April 3, 2026, at O’Fallon Township High School, finishing 2nd overall with 100 team points.

Competing against a strong field, the Rams showcased their depth and versatility across both track and field events—highlighted by a relay victory, multiple podium finishes, and several personal-best performances.

Mt. Vernon was led by a 1st place finish in the Sprint Medley Relay, as Jack Laughlin, Jaden Wilson, Samuel Ohley, and William Green turned in a winning time of 3:47.57. The Rams also delivered strong distance performances, with Carson Workman placing 2nd in the 3200 meters (10:10.11) and contributing to a 2nd place finish in the Distance Medley Relay.

On the sprint side, Keaton Koch captured 1st place in the 100 meters (11.35), while Alex Knappier added a 5th place finish. The Rams’ relay teams were a major strength throughout the meet, earning three 3rd place finishes in the 4×100, 4×200, and 4×800 relays, along with additional top-four finishes in both 4×400 races and the shuttle hurdles.

In the field events, Karter Oliver cleared 1.93 meters to finish 2nd in the high jump, while Carsun Bradford recorded personal bests in both the shot put and discus. James Strowder added a 3rd place finish in the long jump, continuing the Rams’ strong presence across all event groups.

The Rams’ ability to consistently score points in nearly every event proved key in securing the runner-up finish.
