HERRIN — The Centralia Annies showed why they were the top seed at the Herrin 3A Volleyball Regional, downing the hosts 25-10, 25-8 to win their first volleyball regional championship since 1995.
The Tigers jumped out to a 6-2 start and still led 9-6 before the Annies got rolling. Centralia scored 19 of the final 20 points to take game one 25-10 and then scored the first nine points in game two and never looked back, cruising to a 25-8 win.
The 31-4 Annies will advance to the Waterloo Sectional where they will meet East St. Louis Monday night.
