Mistakes doom Marion in playoff loss to Triad


MARION — The Marion Wildcats saw their season end at home in the first round of the 5A playoffs, falling to Triad 55-28.

Wildcats’ mistakes turned out to be the difference. Triad’s Anthony LaRue intercepted three passes. All three led to Knights’ touchdowns, including one LaRue returned 54 yards for a score.

Triad also returned two kickoffs for touchdowns and blocked a punt to set up yet another score.

Marion’s season ends at 8-2. Triad improves to 7-3 and will visit Sacred Heart Griffin in the second round.
