ANNA — The Massac County Patriots beat Anna-Jonesboro 59-49 Saturday night, giving head coach Joe Hosman his 750th win.
According the IHSA record page, Hosman is the 13th boys basketball coach to reach the milestone.
Number 750 did not come easily for Hosman. The Patriots led 27-23 at the half, but the Wildcats rallied to take a 35-33 third quarter lead.
Jase Mizell hit a pair of three-pointers during an 11-0 run that put Massac County in control. The Wildcats never got closer than six the rest of the way.
JJ Sweatt led the Patriots with 15. Mizell added 12.
Blake Pena led all scorers with 18 for A-J. Noah McFarland added 14 and Juan Valencia 11.
Both teams will return to action next Thursday at the Eldorado Holiday Tournament.
