Applebey’s monster day leads Mt. Carmel past Greenville

PINCKNEYVILLE — While he wasn’t a one-man gang, Mt. Carmel junior big man Kaleb Applebey inflicted a lot of damage in the Golden Aces’ first round win at the Duster Thomas Hoops Classic.

The 6’6″ junior scored 38 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead the Golden Aces to a 61-53 win over Greenville. Applebey hit 13 of his 17 shots from the field, and the only the thing that kept him from 40 or more was a 4-13 day at the free throw line.

Mt. Carmel will face Jersey in the quarterfinals Friday. Greenville will meet Chester in the consolation bracket.
