Massac County beats Goreville in non-conference match up

METROPOLIS — The Massac County Lady Patriots cruised to a non-conference win over Goreville Saturday afternoon, 58-46.

The Lady Patriots put three in double figures led by Kendra Waldon’s 18 points. Camryn McBride added 13 and Cali McCraw 12.

The visiting Blackcats got off to a strong start, leading 16-14 after one quarter, but Massac County outscored Goreville 16-8 in the second to lead 30-24 at the half.

The Lady Patriots held Goreville to three points in the third quarter to lead 37-27 heading to the fourth before winning by 12.

Katie Bernard led the Blackcats with 15. Goreville falls 12-4 and will return to Black Diamond-West play Monday with a visit from Chester.

The Lady Patriots improve to 9-8 on the season. They will visit Eldorado Tuesday.
