Mt. Vernon hires Holloway to take over Rams Basketball

MT. VERNON — The Mt. Vernon Rams have a new head boys basketball coach, but he certainly is not new to Rams’ athletics. At a special meeting Wednesday, the school board hired Tim Holloway as the next boys basketball coach.

Holloway, who is also the Rams’ head baseball coach, will replace Doug Creel who retired last month.

Holloway, like Creel, was a baseball and basketball standout for the Rams as a player. He was an assistant coach under Creel from 1999-2006. He’s been Mt. Vernon’s head baseball coach since 2005, compiling a 334-193 record.

Holloway sat down with Darren Kinnard to talk about his new coaching job.
