METROPOLIS — Massac County rolled out the red, white, and blue carpet for eight boys golf teams and six girls teams for the Patriot and Lady Patriot Invitationals Saturday.

Benton dominated the boys’ side winning by 35 strokes as the Rangers held down four of the top seven spots. Sophomore Cy Norman led the way by capturing medalist honors with a one under 70. Nick Melvin (74) and Andrew Bell (79) also broke 80 and finished in the top four. Peyton Sieveking tied for seventh with an 82.

The host Lady Patriots took care of business on the girls’ side, holding off Mt. Carmel by six strokes for the win. As has seemingly become a Massac County custom, the Lady Patriots used a balanced attack with all four golfers finishing in the top eight–scores ranging between 76-87. McKinnley Korte (76), Lily Conkle (78), Elise Coakley (81), and Alexis Frazine (87) finished fourth, fifth, sixth, and eighth respectively.

Hamilton County’s Kylee Vaughan continued her dominant start to the season. The SIU commit fired a two-under 69 to win medalist honors. Mt. Carmel’s Mady Young was second with a 73.
