MT. CARMEL -– The number five ranked Golden Aces of Mt Carmel were in action on Monday night against the Wolves from Flora. It was the Gage Kennard Show, as the sophomore hit eight three-pointers, scoring a game high 26 points to lead Mt. Carmel to a 75-46 win.

The first quarter was all Aces, getting off to a quick 19-2 start, as Kennard hit four of his eight threes, scoring 12 points. Kennard outscored the entire Flora offense as the first quarter came to close with Mt Carmel on top 25-6.

The second quarter had more scoring than the first. The quarter started much as the first ended with a Kennard three-pointer. Flora would answer with a 6-0 run, bringing them to within 14. Mt Carmel would come back with a 7-0 run of their own opening the lead back up to 40-18. The half ended with the Aces doubling up the Wolves 42-21.

The third and fourth quarter didn’t see a lot of varsity action as almost all the starters for the Golden Aces saw limited action in the final two frames of the game. The Aces led the Wolves after the third 58-35 en route to a 29-point victory.

Mt. Carmel improves to 12-2 as the Wolves fall to 1-8. The Aces remaining three games are all at home starting with the Salem Wildcats on Tuesday. The Wolves will play the Red Hill Salukis Tuesday night.
