Annies take top spot in Deep South preseason volleyball poll

The Centralia Annies edged out Fairfield and Pinckneyville for the top spot in the inaugural Section618.com Deep South Volleyball Coaches preseason poll.

The Annies, who finished 33-5 and reached the 3A supersectional last season, received five of the 11 first place votes.

The Lady Mules, who finished 37-3 and reached the 2A supersectional last season, received three first place votes as did the Lady Panthers. Pinckneyville, now under the direction of highly successful head coach Mike Layne, won 30 matches last season, before falling in the sectional championship.
