More area athletes make college choices

More area athletes have made their college choices official the past few weeks. Here’s a rundown of who will be headed where.


Fairfield’s 6’8″ 370 pound senior lineman AJ Gonzalez has signed with Division II Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri to play football. The Lions won the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship in 2019.

Benton’s Jon Tate signed with Illinois College in Jacksonville where he will play baseball.

Murphysboro’s Dylan Eaton will be joining Tate at Illinois College where he will also play baseball.

Murphysboro’s Kylee Kerrens signed with Frontier Community College where she will play softball.

Pinckneyville’s Cameron Hawk signed with Blackburn College in Carlinville where he will play soccer.

Murphysboro’s Jillian Clark signed with Kaskaskia College where she will play soccer.

and Murphysboro’s Faith Svanda signed with Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis where she will be a member of the Spartan Dance Team.
