SESSER — CZR jumped out to a big first half lead then cruised to a 30-8 win at Sesser-Valier/Waltonville, meaning the Bearcats will take the Route 148 sign and bragging rights home with them.

CZR took a 24-0 lead into halftime but could not put the Red Devils away until the final minutes. SVW got on the board with 5:39 left in the third when Quinn Gajewski pounced on Jaden Lance’s fumble in the end zone. Lance ran in the two-point conversion to cut it to 24-8.

The Bearcats would not let the Red Devils get any closer. Gavin Withrow intercepted Carson Hoffard to end one drive. Another drive ended on downs.

Caleb Davis slammed the door shut with 17-yard touchdown run with 2:05 remaining. All that was left for CZR was the celebration, including hoisting the 148 sign.

Both teams are 1-1 on the season. CZR will host Edwards County next Saturday, while SVW will welcome Johnston City.
