CHARLESTON — On a day when the region didn’t see many medals won at the Boys 1A State Track and Field Championship in Charleston, Goreville senior Cole Rushing claimed a pair–finishing sixth in the 100 and then wrapping up his high school career with a fifth place finish in the 200.

Other area medal winners include Webber’s Seth Hamerski who finished sixth in the 800, Okawville’s Daniel Jensen who finished eighth in the 400, Pinckneyville’s Joey Iaccino who finished eighth in the triple jump, Vienna’s Lane Ross who finished ninth in the long jump, and Du Quoin freshman Trelin Smith who tied for ninth in the high jump.

A pair of Cahokia Conference athletes put together memorable days. Wesclin’s Justin Mumford won the 3200 and finished fourth in the 1600. Lebanon’s Luke Hatten finished third in the discus and fifth in the shot put.
