Benton edges Carbondale

CARBONDALE — Two of the area’s top girls tennis teams squared off Wednesday night in Carbondale, as the Terriers welcomed Benton in a match moved to the evening due to the afternoon heat.

Four of the six singles matches went to a tiebreaker. The Rangerettes won the top four seeds with the Terriers taking the fifth and sixth as well as one of the doubles.

The other two doubles matches were unable to finish due to issues with the lights that caused an early end to the night, with Benton winning 4-3.
