Red Devils confident heading into the season

MURPHYSBORO — The Murphysboro Red Devils hope a blend of experience and youth will be the correct recipe to challenge in the SIRR Ohio.

Red Devils head coach Gary Carter says his team is young on the line but experienced in the backfield. Those running backs–Calvon Clemons, Ethan Finke, and Devon Clemons–received plenty of experience in the spring when Murphysboro finished 3-3, including a pair of one-point losses.

The shortened spring season did not include the annual Jackson County Bragging Rights game against Carbondale. The game is back, and the 103rd meeting between the two teams will once again be the season opener Friday night.
