JOHNSTON CITY — With a showdown against Fairfield on the horizon next week, it would’ve been easy for the Johnston City Indians to look past Eldorado. That did not happen as the Indians dominated the Eagles 55-0 for their first win of the season.

Johnston City scored four touchdowns on eight plays in the first quarter, and then returned an interception for a 25-yard touchdown on the first play of the second quarter. The Indians racked up 269 yards in the opening quarter and 379 total yards in the 1st half while building a 48-0 lead by intermission.

Indians’ quarterback Heath Neibch went 8-9 passing for 287 yards and four touchdowns. Two of those TD passes went to Austin Brown. The Wisconsin commit had three receptions for 151 yards, including a 96-yard catch and run for a score. Isiah Watson carried the ball seven times for 112 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the Indians’ ground attack.

Dylan Henshaw led Eldorado with 20 carries for 96 yards.

Johnston City improves to 1-1 and will host Fairfield next Friday night. The Mules will come to town sporting a 37-game Black Diamond Conference winning streak. Eldorado falls to 0-2. The Eagles return home to play 2-0 Flora next Friday.
