MT. VERNON — Triad’s triple-option offense had the Mt. Vernon Rams seeing triple the number of Knights Friday night in a 66-7 home opening loss at Ken Hunt Stadium.
The Knights jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the second quarter before the Rams got on the board with a 64-yard touchdown reception by Anthony Lash Junior to cut it to 17-7, but it all went downhill after that for Mt. Vernon.
Nic Funk’s short TD run gave the Knights a 24-7 lead at the half. Triad then dominated the third quarter outscoring the Rams 35-0 to lead 59-7 after three. The Knights tacked on another score in the fourth for the final margin of victory.
Triad improves 2-1 on the season. Mt. Vernon falls to 0-3. The Rams will open South 7 play next week at Althoff.
