Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week nominees

Voting is now open and will run through midnight Thursday for this week’s Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week. The poll is on the upper right-hand side of the page.

Here are your nominees:

Eduardo Garibay, Nashville: The sophomore kicked the game winning field goal with 3.9 seconds left in Saturday’s 37-35 win over Decatur St. Teresa in the 2A State Semifinals. Garibay also executed two perfect onside kicks helping fuel the Hornets’ fourth quarter rally.

Connor Gladson, Nashville: The senior was a workhorse rushing 34 times for 137 yards, catching 3 passes for 28 yards, and scoring 3 touchdowns in Saturday’s 37-35 win over Decatur St. Teresa in the 2A State Semifinals. Gladson also recovered an onside kick on special teams.

Amiah Hargrove, Christopher: The sophomore earned MVP honors at the Lady Indians’ Tip-Off Classic in Du Quoin after averaging 25 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 steals per game to help lead the Lady Bearcats to a share of the championship.

A’Coria Phillips, Meridian: The senior earned MVP honors at the Lady Bobcat Classic after averaging 25 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4.5 steals per game to lead the Lady Bobcats to a 4-0 record and the tournament championship. Phillips scored 40 in the championship game against Century.

Isaac Turner, Nashville: The senior caught 11 passes for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns in Saturday’s 37-35 win over Decatur St. Teresa in the 2A State Semifinals. Turner also recovered an onside kick and was the holder for the game winning field goal.
