CHRISTOPHER — Amiah Hargrove’s layup with four seconds left gave Christopher a 49-47 win over Vienna in an early season battle for first place in the Black Diamond West.
Hargrove led the Lady Bearcats with 26 points on the night. With the game tied 47-47, Hargrove stepped to the free throw line for a 1-and-1 opportunity with 9.4 seconds left. She missed the front end, but Tori Crain tracked down the rebound, then found Hargrove for the game winner.
The Lady Eagles rallied from an eight-point third quarter deficit to close within 34-30 by the end of the third. Vienna used a 10-0 run early in the fourth to go from down five to up five. Lady Eagles’ freshman Ayva Rush led all scorers with 28.
With the win, Christopher improves to 9-1 (4-0). Vienna falls to 9-2 (4-1).
