Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week nominees

Voting is now open and will run through midnight Thursday for this week’s Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week. The poll is on the upper right-hand side of the page.

Here are your nominees:

Chase Buser, Elverado: The senior averaged 23.7 points per game in three games last week, including a 45-point effort in Saturday’s 80-71 win over Thompsonville.

Alyssa Cole, Nashville: The senior averaged 20 points per game in 2 games last week, including 29 points in a 61-55 win at Carterville.

Isaac Hosman, Massac County: The sophomore averaged 20 point and 5 assists per game last week, including 30 points in Friday’s 65-54 win over Harrisburg.

Taj McKinney, Wayne City: The senior was named to the all-tournament team after helping lead the Indians to the Conrad Allen Tournament championship. For the 5 games in the tournament, McKinney averaged 26 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals per game–including 31 points and 11 rebounds in the 67-51 championship game win over Webber.

Alyssa Seymour, Chester: The senior averaged 17 points and 16 rebounds in 3 games last week helping the Yellow Jackets to the consolation championship at the Gibault Candy Cane Classic. Seymour posted 3 double-doubles, including 24 points and 22 rebounds against Gibault, becoming the school’s all-time leading rebounder in the process.

Ian Sopczak, Goreville: The junior averaged 34 points a game in a pair of Blackcats’ wins last week, including a 40-point effort in Saturday’s 78-45 win over West Frankfort.

Ensley Tedeschi, Benton: The junior averaged 21.5 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.5 steals in a pair of Rangerettes’ win last week, including a 28-point effort in Thursday’s win over Carbondale.

Jake Vaughn, Hardin County: The senior averaged 20.5 points, 7 rebounds, and 5.5 steals in two Cougars’ wins. Vaughn posted a triple-double of 31 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 steals in a 74-52 win over Galatia.

Ricky Wade, Marion: The sophomore won his weight class in the Marion Duals as well as the Mascoutah Invitational in the last 8 days. He’s 11-0 during that span, including 3 wins over higher-ranked wrestlers. He is 17-0 this season.
