Strong second half leads Woodlawn to MTC Tournament title

CENTRALIA — The Woodlawn Lady Cardinals outscored Christ Our Rock Lutheran 27-13 in the second half to win the Midland Trail Conference Tournament championship 46-39.

Woodlawn trailed 26-19 at the half but outscored CORL 14-4 in the third quarter to take a 33-30 lead into the fourth quarter. The Lady Cardinals were hanging on to a 40-39 lead but got three-pointers from Ashtyn Warren and Ryan Petersen in the final minutes to finish out the scoring.

Woodlawn hit 10 three-pointers on the night, but only made four field goals inside the arc.

Petersen led the Lady Cardinals with 14. Jase Burkett, who was named tournament MVP, finished with 11. CORL’s Mati Stanart led all scorers with 21.
