Compton’s big night leads Goreville past Christopher

GOREVILLE — Goreville senior Dylan Compton scored a game high 22 points from a wide variety of angles to lead the Blackcats to a 55-39 win over Christopher, in a matchup of teams trying to keep pace with Vienna in the Black Diamond–West race.

Both teams are now 3-1 in conference play. The Eagles lead the way at 7-0.

Goreville jumped out to a 14-4 lead after one quarter and never really looked back, taking a 27-16 lead into the half. The Blackcats then opened the third on a 15-4 run to extend their lead to the biggest of the night at 42-20.

The Bearcats could get no closer than 15 the rest of the way. Peyton Mazur led Christopher with 10 points.

Briley Dunn and Drake Moss added 10 points apiece for the Blackcats.
