Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week nominees

Voting is now open and will run through midnight Thursday for this week’s Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week. The poll is on the upper right-hand side of the page.

Here are your nominees:

Jerzy Bittle, Marion: The junior averaged 27.7 points per game in three games last week, including a career high 40 points in a win over Meridian.

Roderick Gatewood Jr., Meridian: The junior averaged 24.3 points per game in three games last week, including 41 points and 7 assists in a win over Christopher.

Dylan Harvel, Anna-Jonesboro: The sophomore averaged 20.5 points and 7 assists in two games last week for the Wildcats.

Caden Hawkins, Carterville: The junior averaged 15 points, 10 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals in two games last week for the Lions.

Isaac Hosman, Massac Co.: The sophomore averaged 14.3 points and 10 assists in three games last week for the Patriots, including a school record 18 assists in a win over Cairo.

Mason Tieffel, Benton: The sophomore went 3-0, pinning all three of his opponents and not allowing a point to win the 126 pound weight class at the loaded Litchfield Tournament.

Jake Vaughn, Hardin Co.: The senior averaged 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists per game in three games last week to help lead the Cougars to the GEC Tournament championship.

Jayden Vorhes, Herrin: The senior wrapped up his career with a top 25 finish at the Boys State Bowling Tournament, finishing 23rd with an average of 215.5 over 12 games.

Ricky Wade, Marion: The sophomore went 4-0 to win the 132 pound weight class in the South 7 Conference tournament and finish an unbeaten regular season at 28-0.
