MCLEANSBORO — Hamilton County’s Wyatt Hamson is the Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week for January 17-22. The junior was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Benton Invitational Tournament after averaging 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks over five games to lead the Foxes to a share of the championship, their first since 1999.

Hamson is a big reason for the Foxes success this season–both figuratively and literally. At 6-foot-9, he’s a force defensively and on the boards. Offensively, he has the ability to score in the post, and just as important for coach Doug Miller’s team, Hamson is a willing and able passer.

The Foxes have put together a great year so far–entering the week having won 22 of 25 games. Hamson says that success has built excitement and confidence about about the road ahead.
