Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week nominees

Voting is now open and will run through midnight Thursday for this week’s Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week. The poll is on the upper right-hand side of the page.

Here are your nominees:

Nate Dampier, Marion: The senior went 3-0 with 3 pins to win the 152 pound weight class at the Mahomet-Seymour 2A Wrestling Sectional.

Addison Denny, Anna-Jonesboro: The senior posted 3 double-doubles last week, averaging 18.7 points and 12.3 rebounds per game.

Madi Hawk, Anna-Jonesboro: The senior finished 5th at the Mt. Vernon Girls Bowling Sectional with 1271 pins, helping the Lady Wildcats to a 3rd place team finish and a trip to the State Tournament.

Alivia Ming, Goreville: The sophomore went 3-0 with 2 pins and a major decision to win the 135 pound weight class at the Peoria Girls Wrestling Sectional and advance to the inaugural Girls State Tournament.

Haylie Nappier-Feth, Marion: The junior went 3-0 with 3 pins to win the 145 pound weight class at the Peoria Girls Wrestling Sectional and advance to the inaugural Girls State Tournament.

Brinnen Norris, Crab Orchard: The junior averaged 28 points in 2 games last week, including a career high 39 points with 9 rebounds and 6 three-pointers made in a win over NCOE.

JaLea Shered, Centralia: The sophomore averaged 25.5 points in 2 games last week, including 31 points in a win over Richland County.

Makayla Storment, Mt. Vernon: The junior finished 6th at the Mt. Vernon Girls Bowling Sectional with 1267 pins, earning a trip to the State Tournament as one of the five individual qualifiers.

Mason Tieffel, Benton: The sophomore went 3-0 with 2 pins and a major decision to win the 126 pound weight class at the Vandalia 1A Sectional. Tieffel pinned the number 2 ranked wrestler in the state in the semis.

Owen Treat, Vienna: The sophomore averaged 25.5 points in four games last week, including a career high 38 points in a win over Johnston City and 30 points in a loss to Goreville. He also set a school record with 17 assists in a win over Cairo.
