GOREVILLE — Abby Compton scored 26 points and Kait Dunning added 10 to lead Goreville to a 61-34 win over Pope County to win the Goreville Girls Basketball 1A Regional championship.

The Lady Blackcats led 18-9 after one quarter and extended that lead to 36-13 at the half. Goreville outscored Pope County 24-9 in the third quarter to trigger the running clock in the fourth quarter.

Elyse Ibata led the Lady Pirates with 14 points.

Goreville advances to the Sesser-Valier 1A Sectional. The Lady Blackcats will face Woodlawn at 6:00 Tuesday. Christopher will meet Gallatin County in the second game at Sesser Tuesday.
