Congratulations to this week’s WMIX Sports/Josh Finley Country Financial Ram of the Week Winners, Mt. Vernon Lady Rams Basketball! The Lady Rams won their second straight regional championship on Friday, Feb. 18, at Effingham! After a perfect 10-0 finish in South Seven Conference play, the Lady Rams finished the regular season with a 22-5 record. At the Effingham Regional, the Lady Rams beat Charleston 63-21 and then the Effingham Flaming Hearts 43-37 to claim the crown. Mt. Vernon’s season would conclude the following Tuesday at the Civic Memorial Sectional losing to the host Lady Eagles 57-45 and finishing their season 24-6. The Lady Rams were also champions of the Benton Rangerette Christmas Classic and finished third place in their opening tournament at Nashville. Congratulations, Lady Rams!
