Hargrove, Kraus lead region’s selections for AP Girls All-State

The Associated Press released its Girls All-State Basketball teams, voted on by a statewide panel of broadcasters and sportswriters. Players received five points for first team votes and three points for second team votes. A player had to be named on at least two ballots to receive honorable mention

The region was well-represented with a total of two first team selections, one second team selection, and 11 honorable mention selections.

Both first team selections came in 1A, and both are sophomores–Christopher’s Amiah Hargrove and Okawville’s Alayna Kraus. A pair of juniors were honorable mention picks in 1A–Gallatin County’s Carly Foster, and Kraus’ Okawville teammate Briley Rhodes.

In 2A, Carterville senior Alecia Doyle was a second team selection. There were seven honorable mention selections from the region–Benton junior Ensley Tedeschi, Nashville senior Alyssa Cole, Paris senior Madyson Rigdon, Carterville sophomore Amayah Doyle, Paris senior Katelyn Littleton, Marshall senior Maya Osborn, and Chester senior Alyssa Seymour.

Marion junior Jerzy Bittle and Herrin senior Presli Karnes were both honorable mention selections in 3A.
