CHRISTOPHER — Our Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week for February 21-26 is Christopher’s Scout Hudgens.

The sophomore scored 29 points in a pair of games, including 23 in the Elverado Regional Championship victory over Sesser-Valier. Hudgens hit 6-7 from three-point range helping lead the Bearcats to the title.

Christopher went on to advance to the sectional championship game before falling to Steeleville. The Bearcats finished their season 24-9.

As a sophomore, Hudgens admitted it was a little intimidating early on playing next to a bunch of older guys, but he says that group, particularly the seniors, did a great job of leading the way.

Now it’s on to baseball. Christopher co-ops with Z-R. Hudgens pitches and plays shortstop for a Tornadoes team that won 24 games and a regional title last year.
