DU QUOIN — Harrisburg Lady Bulldogs’ head softball coach Red Stafford won his 500th game earlier this month. His club just keeps on winning.
Harrisburg improved to 9-0 on the season with a 10-1 win at Du Quoin.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped on top with two runs in the top of the first. After Harrisburg left the bases loaded in the top of the second, the Lady Indians got on the board on a two-out, RBI single by Carly Strauss to score Hayleigh Wallace.
Harrisburg answered with three in the third, two in the fourth, and another in the fifth to break it open. Layla Borders’ RBI single and Sidney Neal’s two-run rip accounted for the third inning runs. Joey Quinn took care of the fourth and fifth with a two-run single and an RBI double.
The Lady Bulldogs tacked on two more for the final margin of victory.
Both teams are on the road Tuesday as Harrisburg will head to Hamilton County, and Du Quoin will visit Carmi-White County.
