Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week nominees

Voting is now open and will run through midnight Thursday for this week’s Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week. The poll is on the upper right-hand side of the page.

Here are your nominees:

Cameron Evrard, Herrin: The senior allowed 1 run and struck out 15 over 6.2 innings in a win over West Frankfort. Offensively for the week, Evrard was 4-12 with a double, a triple, an RBI, and 4 runs scored.

Gavin Genisio, Benton: The sophomore won the 1600M with a time of 4:16.78 at the prestigious Distance Night at Palatine.

Kaylen Grammer, Carbondale: The junior went 3-0 in 4 games, allowing 2 earned runs and 11 hits while striking out 45 in 24 innings of work. Offensively for the week, Grammer hit .357 with 3 doubles and 3 RBIs.

Jacob Kinsman, Benton: The junior was 6-13 with a double, 2 home runs, 10 RBIs and walked 5 times. On the mound, Kinsman pitched 3 scoreless innings, striking out 6.

Chris Nelson, Herrin: The freshman won 4 events at Sparta’s Buzz Bradley Invitational. Nelson won the 100M (10.98), the 200M (22.70), the high jump (1.8M), and the long jump (6.55M).

Parker Price, Eldorado: The junior was 1-0, allowing 1 run and 1 hit while striking out 15 in 6 innings of work. Offensively, Price was 5-10 with a double, a home run, an RBI, and 4 runs scored in 3 games.

Jillian Shaneyfelt, Pinckneyville: The junior scored 7 goals to help the Lady Panthers to a pair of wins.

Taby Young, Murphysboro: The senior was 11-18 with a double, a home run, 7 RBIS, and 8 runs scored. In the circle, Young was 2-0, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits while striking out 8 in 13 innings of work.
