MARION — The Marion Wildcats made it a Senior Night to remember, shutting out rival Carbondale 5-0, tying the school record for wins in a season with number 20.

Senior Margaux Bruce scored four goals, two in the first half and two in the second half, with freshman Kyra Graham adding the fifth goal.

After a scoreless first 30 minutes, Bruce struck twice in a little more than a minute to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead. Graham’s goal came with 1:26 left in the half and put Marion up 3-0 at intermission.

Bruce’s two second half goals came within a two minute span to put the match out of reach.

Both teams will compete in the Carbondale 2A Regional next week. Marion is the top seed and will take on Mt. Vernon at 4:00 Tuesday in the first semifinal. The Terriers will follow in the second semifinal against Anna-Jonesboro/Cobden. The regional championship is set for next Friday at 5:00.
