BENTON — The Benton Rangers have had quite a run the past three seasons, going 25-4 in that span, but many of the key cogs for those teams have graduated the past two springs. That includes school record setters from last year Keegan Glover, Reid Baumgarte, and Chase Thomas.

That doesn’t mean the cupboard is bare.

Rangers head coach Justin Groves says he has a talented group, but it’s a young group. No place is that more apparent than at quarterback, where sophomore Tiffin Kouzoukas steps in for the aforementioned Glover, who was a three-year starter for the Rangers. Kouzoukas knows Glover will be a tough act to follow, but his teammates and coaches see plenty of potential.

Groves said practicing with a young team is exciting because he can see the growth each day. Despite the experience level, this year’s group has seen a lot of winning football.

Now they say, it’s their turn.

The Rangers will open the season with three straight road games, starting at Carterville August 26th.
