Centralia subdues Salem to win annual Shrine Game

CENTRALIA — The 70th Annual Shrine Game went to Centralia, as the Orphans beat the Salem Wildcats 35-14 at Evers Field Friday night.

The Orphans jumped out to a 14-0 lead after one quarter and led 21-7 at the half. The Wildcats cut it to 21-14 after three, but the Orphans tacked on two fourth quarter scores for the final margin of victory.

Centralia rushed for 258 yards as a team, led by senior Marzeal Marshall’s 113 yards. Senior quarterback Carson Green accounted for 249 total yards–187 through the air with two touchdowns, along with 62 yards rushing and another score. Daryle Jones, Jacob Brooks, Amir Johnson, Marshall, and Green all scored touchdowns for Centralia.

Kason Sullens led the Wildcats offensively with 178 yards rushing on 28 carries and two touchdowns.

Centralia (1-0) will play at Richland County next Friday night, while Salem (0-1) will travel to Alton Marquette.
